MEET YOUR TYPICAL TEXAS CONSTITUENT, LT COL (Ret) J. MOTOS GORDON, PhD
My grandfather (Donald Gordon) on my dad's side fought in Europe and helped defeat the Nazis.
My grandfather (Geminiano Arenas Motos) on my mom's side fought as a guerilla alongside the American GIs in the Philippines and helped defeat the Japanese in the Pacific
They were great men, and I loved them both.
Although my military service pales in comparison to the deeds and sacrifices that both my grandfathers went through, I'd like to think that, in some small way, they would approve.
From the halls of the United States Air Force Academy, to the B-1 bomber and F-16 jet fighter airfields in the U.S., Japan, and South Korea, to the research laboratories and test sites in the deserts and mountains, my 21 years of military service continued to defend what my grandfathers so valiantly fought for: to protect the idea that we are meant to be free; that there can exist a Place that gives you the simple Opportunity to live freely, think freely, choose freely, and follow your dreams freely.
After all, it's the year 2022 in America. Not 1619. Not 1860. Not 1960. We are all free. But no one is entitled to equality of outcome; only equality of opportunity. And that means hard work.
I got to where I am because of the opportunities in this country. There was no "systemic racism" that kept me down. There was no "white privilege" that disadvantaged me.
There was only hard work, failures along the way, lessons learned, sheer determination, people who helped me along the way, more hard work, then eventual successes.
That's the American way. That's the Texan way.
Whether you grew up in the rice fields like me, or you were born in this country, we share the same story. Because our story is the American story.
Ours is a story that believes that your success in this country is directly proportional to the level of effort and hard work you put into it.
Ours is a story that believes the American Dream is alive and well.
Our story shows that it doesn't matter how or where you begin that counts, but it's how you finish that matters most.
Ours is a story rooted in family values that believes that we have a right to raise our families and our kids the way we want.
Values and beliefs that demand we get to choose what goes into our bodies and that of our kids.
Values that say that our kids are neither the oppressors nor the oppressed simply because of the color of their skin.
Our story is steeped in respect for the Rule of Law and the law enforcement officers who pursue justice for our families and our communities "until it be obtained, or liberty be lost in the pursuit."
It is this respect for the rule of law that demands that those who break the law and are in our country illegally must be sent back and forced to follow the law and wait in line like everybody else. That they are not wanted in our communities where they take our jobs or make our streets unhealthy and unsafe with their drugs and human trafficking.
And our story endures because we are not afraid to bear arms to defend our families and our lives.
In a proud land where "Remember the Alamo" was once a rallying cry, today's clarion calls are equally loud and clear: "Stop the Steal!" "We Will Not Comply!" and "Let's Go Brandon!"
The people of Texas support candidates that will bring our shared story, our conservative Texas family values, and our America-First voice to Congress.
We will speak loudly until they hear us, and we will support laws that:
Protect our borders,
Protect our families, and
Protect our jobs.
